RESULTS OF PRESIDENTIAL ELECTIONS IN CHILEIN 2017

The article analyses the results of the parliamentary and presidential elections that took place in Chile at the end of 2017. The author shows the regularity of events based on the social, economic and political changes taking place in the country after the establishment of democracy and examines the electoral programs of candidates relying on the public reaction of potential voters and their expectations. The research examines the example of a specific country the possibility of rearranging political forces in most Latin American states drawing on the achievements of domestic and foreign historiography. Chile is the first state within the electoral cycle of the region that will last until the end of autumn of 2019. The study is presented in two parts. The first is a general analysis of parliamentary elections and their results. In the second part, attention is paid directly to the results of the presidential election campaigns. Particular attention is paid to the new presidentS. Pinera, since he became the candidate who meets the needs of modern Chilean society. He is aimed at socio-economic modernisation, which will help to start a new progressive development of the state. At the moment the strategy of S. Pinera’s behaviour as a future leader of the country is transparent and extremely clear. At the same time, it should be taken into account that the inauguration of the new president was made relatively recently, on March 11, 2018, therefore, there is a possibility that in the future there may be some changes in the planned line of development under the influence of internal and external factors.
